Microneedling
Stimulate. Repair. Renew. Clinically Proven Collagen Induction Therapy
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a minimally invasive treatment that uses ultra-fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin — triggering the body’s natural wound-healing response and stimulating new collagen and elastin production. The result is visibly firmer, smoother, and more even-toned skin.

What is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses a medical-grade device with a cluster of sterile, ultra-fine needles. These needles create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin at controlled depths (ranging from 0.5mm to 2.5mm depending on the concern and area). This triggers a cascade of healing — the body rushes collagen, elastin, and growth factors to the area, gradually remodelling the skin from within.
At Ivy Clinics, we use professional derma pen systems with adjustable needle depths, allowing precise targeting of specific concerns. Microneedling is often combined with serums (such as Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, or PRP) that are infused through the microchannels during the session for enhanced results.

Treatment Process
Consultation & Skin Mapping
A dermatologist assesses your scars, skin type, and depth of concern to determine the appropriate needle depth and session protocol.
Numbing
A topical numbing cream is applied for 30 minutes before the procedure to ensure a comfortable experience.
Microneedling Session
The medical-grade derma pen is passed over the skin in systematic sections. Depending on the target area and concern, needle depth is adjusted. Duration: 30-40 minutes.
Serum Infusion
Customised serums (HA, Vitamin C, PRP, or growth factor serums) are applied immediately post-needling so they penetrate through the microchannels directly into the dermis.
Post-Session Care
A calming sheet mask or soothing gel is applied. Your dermatologist provides a tailored home-care routine for the recovery period.

The Microneedling Procedure at Ivy Clinics
At Ivy Clinics, microneedling is performed by trained dermatologists using sterile, single-use needle cartridges — never shared or reused. We use precision derma pen devices with adjustable needle depth to address specific areas and concerns with accuracy. Our dermatologists customise serum infusion post-needling based on your primary concern (scarring, pores, or ageing). Topical anaesthesia ensures a comfortable session. Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with a minimum of 3–6 sessions recommended for visible scar improvement.
Is It Safe?
Yes. Microneedling is a well-established, widely used clinical treatment with a strong safety profile. The procedure uses sterile, single-use cartridges to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination. It is safe for Indian skin tones with a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to ablative lasers. Mild redness and sensitivity for 24–72 hours post-treatment is normal. Serious complications are rare when performed by trained professionals in a clinical setting.

How to Prepare for Your Session
- Stop using retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and vitamin C serums 5–7 days before treatment
- Avoid sun tanning and sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior
- Do not have waxing, threading, or chemical peels within 2 weeks of your session
- Arrive with clean skin on the day — no active products or heavy makeup
- Inform your doctor if you have active acne breakouts, cold sores, or any skin infections
Precautions
- Keep skin clean and avoid touching the treated area for 24 hours
- Avoid makeup and heavy creams for 24 hours post-treatment
- Do not expose skin to sun without SPF 50+ for at least 2 weeks
- Avoid swimming, saunas, and heavy workouts for 48 hours post-session
- Do not use active serums (retinoids, AHAs) for 5–7 days after treatment
What to Expect After Treatment
Immediately after the session, skin will appear red and feel warm — similar to a mild sunburn. This typically resolves within 24–48 hours. Some patients experience minor skin flaking or tightness over the following 3–5 days as the skin heals. New collagen continues to build for weeks and months post-treatment — so improvements in scars and texture become progressively visible over 4–8 weeks. Patients typically see the most significant results after completing a course of 3–6 sessions.
